Educational Programs
Early childhood is a critical stage for building foundational learning skills that prepare keiki for school and lifelong learning. Through our early childhood programs, young learners engage in hands‑on activities and guided play that strengthen social skills, problem‑solving abilities, and early academic readiness. Families and caregivers join their keiki in meaningful, play‑based learning that supports healthy development.

Early Childhood
Our early childhood programs offer year‑round, part‑day learning experiences for children ages 18 months to 5 years. Led by our experienced museum educators, each class blends hands‑on exploration, sensory play, and age‑appropriate activities that nurture curiosity and support early learning. These programs give toddlers and preschoolers a joyful introduction to structured learning and help build the foundational skills they’ll carry into their first preschool or kindergarten classroom.

Discovery Camps
Our Discovery Camp programs provide hands-on, play-based learning experiences for children during Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter Breaks, as well as one-day camps offered on select DOE and private school holidays. Each session is built around engaging themes and features STEAM-inspired projects, outdoor play, creative activities, and interactive museum play led by our experienced educators. Designed for a wide range of ages, ranging from 3 to 8 years old, Discovery Camps encourage curiosity, creativity, and imagination while offering families a fun and enriching school-break option.

School Visits
Schools and nonprofit groups are invited to bring their students to the Hawai‘i Children’s Discovery Center for immersive, play‑based learning experiences. Classes can choose between our Discovery Visit, a flexible self‑guided exploration of our interactive exhibits, or our Focus Group Visit, which includes an educator‑led lesson paired with hands‑on gallery play. To keep field trips accessible for all keiki, we provide specially subsidized rates for these memorable educational visits in Honolulu.
